Malek(Erin Dentwist)

This was probably my first real character. I ended up making a 9+ page backstory with small quirks and powerful RP elements. He was a human that due to a very dark past got mixed up with a evil organization known as the Zhentarim with his brother(another player character) ended up with a second more malicious personality know as Malek. A few triggers that casued this aggresive ego to emerge was Torm worshipers and anytime harm was done to his brother. The dynamic made it very enteresting for the party becasue for the early part of the campaign people were confused by the fact that at one point my character was a kind somewhat nieve man and at other points he was a sick sadistic torturer. Interesting enough Malek slowly became the main personality between the two after a major event that would eventually lead me to retiring the character. To give some background this campaign was centered around a group of relics know as the Essence's(I go into more information on these in the Magic Items page) these were pivotial in warping most player characters rp as well as causing some inner party conflict. The major event was Malek taking ownership of the Essence of Corruption a very evil item that slowly shut out the personality of Erin the more he used it. Shortly after the player that was playing Malek's brother retired his character after getting the oppertunity of becoming a lord of Cormyr and establishing a connection for the Zhentarim in the country. Although Malek no longer had his brother with him he relished in the power of the relic draining the very lifeforce of creature he slowly delved into darker powers. He became a Disiple of Mephistophelis and purposely mutilated himself in order to gain even greater power. His evil did cause a wedge in the party at times and actually led to him killing a party member and gaining a massive wellspring of power. He used this power to fully become one with the Essence of Corruption. He shattered his mind even more than it already was and bound the personality of Erin into it perminantly linking his fate to the greater schemes at play in the campaign. After the Murder of the party member the DM and I decided that it would be for the best that Malek find an exit due to his ambitions Becoming more and more focused on his own power and not aligning with the overall parties needs and goals. A few sessions after; we ran into an encounter at a keep of day walking vampires that held the Essence of Purity(the opposing essence of corruption). Malek immediately got into a confrontation with the Lady of the Keep the vampire Alyssa. He overestimated his own power and was bested by her in a battle of the essences and parished, but not forever. A contengency Malek and his brother had put in place before seperating was giving each other a vial of their blood in the case of needing to be resurrected. With Malek dead and the Essence of Corruption unbound but still in their possession the party continued on their adventure collecting info and a new party member; a wizard by the name of Ozlow(More on him in his section). After meeting Ozlow and collecting more info on other essences they were given an immediate summons back to Cormyr by Maleks brother. As the party arrived they were blindsided by the ressurection of Malek. He demanded the Essence of Corruption back and with a small army of trained knights and mages the party had no choice but to give it back to him. This act solidified him as one of the major BBEG's of the campaign. I'll leave it there for his character because this is already a long story and maybe I'll make a summary recap of the entire campaign at some point in the future.

Ozlow

Ozlow was my new character after Malek(see character above) he was an older human wizard the specialized in stealth and crowd control. He grew up as a scholar in the guild known as the arcane order. He learned many things while studing there and eventually became a full fledged guild member and gained access to the magical anomoly of the spellpool(I talked to the DM about making this the Essence of Magic since we as players knew of its existance but had not come across it and the DM liked the idea because it also put a bit of a power balance on one of the stronger essences in the campaign.) During his daily activities at the Order a group of adventurers showed up looking for an essence after hearing rumors of the spellpool. After they determained that the spellpool was indeed the Essence of Magic but also it was so stretched thin between all the guild members to not pose a threat they decided to verture off to find more volatile essences. While adventuring with this new party he learns a lot about the essences and later becomes the owner of a brand new created essence dubbed the Essence of Humanity. This unknown essence became his main focus trying to figure out all the secrets of this abnormal item. He traveled with the party until the end of the campaign.

Gorgon

This was my very first character. I didn't really have a backstory for him other than he was born from an orc raiding party and was trained as a lesser brute do to being a half-orc. He was a very fun character to play and he's the only character I've taken a single item I got from the first encounter and upgraded it to the point of a relic by the end of the campaign. This item was his greataxe and it started as a +1 masterwork item but ended as a +5 flaming holy wounding bane keen greataxe. He was a powerful barbarian that was built to just tank damage with his undying rage. I had so much fun with this character he was just the big dumb guy with a large sharp stick and loved using it. One of the funniest things about this character is that he would just pick up random stuff and keep it on him. An example of this is after a combat he picked up a random stick and kept it on him for the entire campaign until the party realized that this stick wasn't a normal stick but was a fallen piece of the world tree and actually granted a wish. This threw the party for a loop because we had this stick for over a year and a half of real world time. Sadly the fate of Gorgon was tragic he lost his life during the final battle of the campaign, a ray of desintegration was what took him from the mortal world.

Brekkon Cloakshadow

Brekkon was my short king. he was a whisper gnome that I purposely made on the shorter side at a height of 3'. He was a finesse melee fighter that had a small dog complex, but had the strange ability at times to actually back up his bark. One of his greatest feats was countering a charging giant by redirecting it into a wall. He was part of a campaign that was centered during the Spellplague a very chaotic time in the world of the forgotten realms. He was a guard for a place called the academy. He was also a test subject for a new weapon know as Spellfire daggers(I'll go into more detail on these in the Magic Items page) With these new daggers he worked with a group of adventurers to try and fix the shattered weave and restore magic to a state prior to the Spellplague. His journey pushed him to fight many great foes until they succeeded on their task and he was chosen to be a weave anchor and helped heal the magic of the world while Mystra recovered.

Rakon Kith

This was my first dip into the world of psionics in d&d. This is probably my most min maxed character to date(at least until I make my archivist). He was a Elan that used a cheesy magic item that gave him over 250 power points to use a day. This made him very powerful because I could pretty much maximize all my powers all day without the fear of over extending my resources like a wizard might. I also chose my feats to max out my augmentation level so that technically I was manifesting powers at a level 2 to 4 times higher than my actual level. This ment that a energy missle power was doing 6 to 8 d6 damage at level 4. I also made sure to always have a quickened Psychic Reformation that way at any point in combat I could change all my powers and feats and so on to optimize what I needed at the time. Now that the min/max is out of the way time to get into the character. He was a member of a tribe located on the island on chult he would hone his skills through reptile hunts. He had a family a wife and a daughter. Sadly one day on a rather long and tiredsome hunt he was captured by slavers and was taken to the mainland and put into a work camp. He was forced to do manual labor until his mental powers were discovered. The overmaster in charge forced Rakon to wear a ring of submission and forced into the roll of overseer. Due to the ring of submisson he was forced to disipline the other slaves held captive. This put a very heavy mental strain on Rakon. He shut out down for a long time until one day a group of liberators came and saved the camp. The liberators removed the ring of submisson and Rakon finally felt freedom for the first time in years. He was a free man, but the guilt of what he did while he was controlled weighed on him and he felt he couldn't go home till he rectified his sins. He traveled until he met a group of adventurers trying to stop a great evil from changing the world for the worse. He felt that this was his destiny; stop this evil would grant him redemption. Rakon and the adventurers defeated that evil and he finally was able to make the long journey home. This is one of the best character acts I've had the pleasure to create.

Dragonwrought Kobold Archivist

This is my next character and probably my most powerful at least on paper. It's a min/maxers wet dream honestly. To break it down a kobold isn't strong at all its actually a really bad race stat wise until you add dragonwrought to it. Dragonwrought gives your kobold the dragon type which means you can be venerable age and not take any of the negatives to your physical stats, but gain the positives to all your mental stats. It also gives your character a few immunities, darkvision, and a +2 to a skill. The class is also very powerful because its the only class that allows you to learn every divine spell in the game. This also means you can learn arcane spells that are changed into divine spells through different means. The character is gonna be a powerhouse, but at the same time I want him to have depth he's gonna be a archivist that worships Kelemvor the god of death and his goal is to record ancient tomes to keep the history of magic from being forgotten.(I'll update this when his backstory is made)
